Social Events
We have a full program of social events

Our social committee organise and arrange a full and varied program of activities for the members to participate in.

Whilst not every activity will appeal to every member, we hope that there will be at least one or two things that will be of interest to each member, during the month.

We also actively encourage our partners and families to join us in many of the activities.

The Children's Christmas Party

Guy Faulks night in Leighton Buzzard

This is a movies of some of the fireworks on display.

Please click the image to run the movie.

We descended on Brooklands school in Leighton Buzzard to watch the firework display. It was a dry but a cold November night. There was a huge bonfire which, when lit we could feel the heat from 100 metres away.

After the display, we went to Graham and Alison's who very kindly fed us baked potatoes and salad.

Gillian and Elizabeth dressed for the cold

Joe and Johnny getting a better view

Stockcar racing in Northampton

The children wanted to get a better view of the crashes.
It was a fabulous sunny and warm afternoon in October. We decided to go stockcar racing and we are very lucky as there is a track nearby in Barfield Northampton.

We must remember to take chairs or a blanket next time.

All stop for a crash

International Cheese tasting event
Forget wine tasting- cheese tasting is the latest thing...

Andy S receiving this prize as the greatest cheese taster in the club. How cheesy is that!
We wanted to raise some money but have fun as well, so our community committee decided to hold an international cheese tasting event.

This was a great evening. We had no idea there were so many different cheeses out there, some wonderful, others truly disgusting. It was great fun and one we should repeat, next year perhaps?

BBQ on a blowy September afternoon
Kite flying would have been the order of the day for our annual BBQ with our families had we only known how windy it was going to be.

The guys discussing the football and motor racing in the kitchen of course.
This event had been scheduled for July but the weather had been so awful that  we were forced to reschedule for later on in the year and hope for an "Indian Summer".

We were lucky and whilst it was very windy, it remained dry and warm for most of the day. The afternoon was hosted by Tony and Elspeth in their beautiful new home in a village near Buckingham.

Fabulous food was cooked by Gavin and eaten by most of the club, their partners and offspring.

We were very lucky when we picked August Bank Holiday Sunday to enjoy a picnic and a game of rounder's in Emberton park. The weather was glorious.

How is Andy doing that with the ball?

Aha...that's better, on the foot!

Film Trivia night

Phil and Andy on BBQ duty

Phil was only missing his whip - which film was he?

We held a film trivia night and BBQ, where all the gusts had to come as their favourite film and we had to guess what films were being portrayed.

Some of the costumes were quite cryptic and difficult to guess, but everyone made a huge effort and looked great. We had some excellent BBQ food and then we answered 51 film question, some hard some easy.

The prize for the quiz went of course to our resident genius Neil and the best portrayal of a film in costume went to Andy M. See if you can guess the films we all represented. (answers at the bottom of the page..)

Andy M dressed for bed..what film (or radio show )might this be?

Kat showing a saucy bit of leg.

Andy S with an atrocious french accent saying ..."you leettle minx you"

Helen -"Aha..m'lady, your car is here"

Elizabeth had her violin case beside her!

Murder on the train out of Paris
We all dressed up...

Andy played Squadron leader "Way Awffcourse"

Chris Played Kvovert the spy

The scene was 1940 in Paris and we were all escaping on a special train from the German invasion of that city. But, shock horror, one of the guests had been murdered.

We ate a lovely meal and tried to work out who was the guilty guest. It was a complicated plot and Graham and Andy M got the closest to the correct answer, but no-one got it absolutely right.

We all enjoyed it very much.

Gillian was Princess Idelle                      Alison was Barbra the socialite

Elizabeth was Mary the journalist     Neil drew the short straw and played Belinda

Andy M played Mal the gun runner        Graham played the "Duke" hello hello...

Karen's 40th Birthday
Karen making a speech  toasting her guests.

Karen celebrated her birthday in the Wing village hall where friends from her course and  Rotary mingled and had fun.

Even though Chris set off the fire alarm and the emergency services arrived, everyone ate drank and made merry.

Helen's 40th Birthday
Helen toasting her guests

Helen celebrated her birthday in the hall where we meet for our Rotary meetings in Little Brickhill.

She invited friends and family. We were entertained by a very loud disco and she and everyone else seemed to enjoyed herself very much.

Andy's 50th Birthday
Andy Sheldon was 50 and we had a party.
The theme was, "come as you might have done in 1957" and there were some fabulous outfits.

We even  had "Elvis" at the party.

Chris, Gillian, Nigel and Karen rocking    Morgan looking sheepish!

There were so many candles on his cake that Andy was able to warm his hands. Everyone made and effort with their costumes it was great to see so many rockers and "pink Ladies"!
