Social Events of 2006
We have a full program of social events Our social committee organise and arrange a full and varied program of activities for the members to participate in.

Whilst not every activity will appeal to every member, we hope that there will be at least one or two things that will be of interest to each member, during the month.

We also actively encourage our partners and families to join us in many of the activities.

Our Christmas celebration
Our happy Chairman

Neil with Andy S on his lap

There was even some romance generated!!

With a tiny budget of £20 per head we had a most interesting and happy evening at the Comfort Inn in Deanshanger.

The meal left some thing to be desired but the staff tried really hard to please. The room was ours and we had some great music to dance to chosen for us by our very own DJ Barnett.

Presents we dispensed by Father Christmas Neil and we all had to sit on his lap as can be seen opposite.

Two pretty girls having a laugh.  Graham and Alison wearing their secret Santa gifts!

Think Pink lunch in October
Everyone wore pink!

Not only did we wear pink, but we ate all pink food too. We raised over £60 for breast cancer awareness month.

Please note the picture in the centre. It was all too much (pink) for our chairman Neil...

Wintery Walk beside College Lake

The children LOVED the mud and the puddles

It was a true wintry day with lots of rain, blustery winds. A few of us decided to brave the elements and after a lovely pub lunch we walked along the paths beside College Lake.

It was too much to expect the kids to stay out of the puddles and stay clean and dry! We all enjoyed it and will do it again, maybe in the spring or summer next time.

Duck Decoy at Borstall
Day out in Borstall

Gillian crouching down in the cage. What is she doing there?

We went to the Boarstall Duck Decoy near Aylesbury on Sunday August the 27th 2006. The Douses and the Barnetts were out in force, along with The Richardsons, Alison and her two boys and Karen with her daughter and -sister-in-law, and her daughter.

We had a picnic lunch and went for a walk around the nature trail with the boys picking up all sorts of ‘treasures’. We ended up with loads of acorns, nuts, feathers, sticks and a pear or two. We persuaded the children to leave the toadstools, however could not stop certain members of the group (Phil and Chris, mainly!) eating the copious amounts of blackberries we saw.

At 3pm we were treated to a display from Holly the dog demonstrating how the decoy is supposed to work. The lack of water and an non co-operative dog made it a bit of a farce, but we got the idea.

Thirst then drove us to the Pheasant pub in Brill for a swift drink then some of us went to ‘explore’ the windmill, before leaving, after what was a very enjoyable afternoon.

Push guys, push....

Chris presented Gillian with a weed..she was not amused!

In early July for Sunday lunch, we travelled to Long Marston for a pub lunch with our partners and families. We then walked it off along the canal, with extra effort exerted by opening the lock gates for the barges to go through.

It was fun pushing open the lock

Andy and Katherine Montague's wedding

The day dawned and the weather was not kind. Huge amounts of rain fell during the day although this did not spoil anyone's enjoyment at all.

The ceremony took place at......church with a reception following on at ........golf club.

An up close magician provided entertainment for the guests and his skill was much admired.

A Disco in the evening provided the entertainment and there was much dancing by everyone.

It was a lovely day. Hot and although it rained, it only rained when it did not matter. The ceremony took place in front of their close family, 30 people in all, at Fenny Stratford Register office. Those guests were then treated to lunch at Galloways. It was a fabulous lunch, excellent company and service.

Then at 18:30 a reception party was held at Woburn Safari Lodge in the Safari Park for 100 guests.

Guests were invited to come in costume the theme was "Glamorous Out of Africa". Needless to say "The Brickhills" rose to the challenge.

Elizabeth and Andrew treated their guests to an hour of fun on Swan Lake in the swan boats. Many Naval battles were re-enacted on that lake.

The venue was superb as was the food, cooked on a BBQ on the veranda.

A Caricaturist was present throughout the evening and was a huge hit with the guests, as was the band "Jazz Platoon" from Bedford.
