Three Valleys Murder Mystery

The Brickhills Murder detectives

Andy trying for insight!!!It was very strange because on June the 11th Wheathampstead village hall was over run with cowboys and they were searching for the killer of "Two Guns".

Seven members of the Brickhills Rotary club formed a team and spend a very enjoyable evening watching the actors, eating and drinking and doing lots of laughing. Unsurprisingly Graham solved the murder with the correct reasoning given, we still did not win though as the next table to us worded their answer better ( apparently...). Wheathampstead is a l-o-n-g way away, but apart from that  we all had a good time.

Fund Raising Quiz Night

Neil feeling exasperatedThe room of quizzersJune 3rd 2011 was a very warm and sunny day which added to the joy and fulfilment we experienced when we put on our first fund raising quiz night. We hired the Pavilion in Bow Brickhill which is perfect as it has a bar area and a kitchen. Ali and her team of Jo, Lesley, Beverley and Sue worked very hard to ensure that the event was planned to perfection.

Questions were assembled, the menu was decided and the the food and drink purchased, the bar licence was applied for and MK Rotaract kindly offered to run the bar for us, which they did with total professional control.

It did not take us long to set up the room for our 60 hopeful quizzers and with Andrew as quiz master and Neil and Sue as markers we soon got underway. Four rounds were completed before supper was served. Lesley sold raffle tickets during the first half and it was drawn after supper.

Believe it or not there was a tie for the winning place, but the number of correct answers that excluded the joker round was counted and the team "Dumblacks" came out the winner. They had been leading for most of the night, "The Bin Ends" came a very credible second. There was even a trophy for the team in last place, thanks to Jo for that!

So, we raised a superb £790, which will buy a shelter box and send some funds to the Syringe pump project in South Africa that Lindi the Ambassadorial Scholar spoke about earlier on this year. Well done to everyone, it was great fun and a superb result. Thank you to everyone who helped out.

MK Bike Ride for Cancer

The group of riders from the Rotary Club of the BrickhillsSunday 12th September saw 13 members of the club and their children riding the redways in Milton Keynes in aid of Cancer Research UK. Rotary Club of the Brickhills after the ride, worn out!

It was a glorious day and most of the crew choose to ride the 17 miles which we achieved in record time ( well...1.75 hours.)

Those that rode the 7 miles were the youngest and Roberto and Julianne as they had to catch a flight. Roberto organised the event and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Roberto. Here we are after the 17 miles not looking  so upright! See all the photos here.
