Rotary Annual Gala 2013

Karen and the casttombola workersSix of the eight Rotary clubs in the Milton Keynes zone got together to put on an event to raise money to continue the flight to eradicate polio from the world.

Karen Banfield from our Brickhills club wrote a super murder mystery play and we set up in the Hub Theatre of The Open University. We had a 2 course dinner in the intervals whilst we decided who the murderer was and why.

A terrific night especially as so many people dressed in in 1952 costume, there were prizes for the best dressed, the wining ticket and of course the wining team who guessed the murderer correctly.

We are still counting the profit but it will be anounced here as soon as the event accounts have been finalised.

Festival of Christmas

DSC 2301On a lovely clear but very cold day, Angie and her daughters set up the Teddy Tombola stall at Bletchley Park.

Club members came and went all day to support the stall to raise money for our local Charities. Well-done Angie, a gold star for you for lasting two days in sub-zero temperatures.

Wine tasting

The Rotary Club of Milton Keynes Grand Union held a wine appreciation night at MK Snap, Walnut Tree.

Lots of laughter and slightly squiffy room of Rotarians, Sue and Lesley guessed all the right white wines but somehow got all the red wines wrong – more wine tasting required to improve for next year. Over £1,000 raised for MK Snap. A great night.

Santa float

the collectorssanta and elve Brickhills styleOnce again Santa asked us if we could help him to see the people of Newport Pagnell and Bletchley. With extra special and important help from Kevin and Darren and one or too technical hitches with the lights, we took three trips roustreets "Poets" estates in Bletchley and Newport Pagnell and also Tickford End in Newport Pagnell.

Over the three nights most of our club members helped out knocking on doors to let people know Santa was nearby and thanks to the genoursity of those we visited we collected a wonderful sum for good causes.

The weather was kind to us too, so we stayed warm and dry on our trips.

A big thank you to all those who helped out and to all those who donated so genorously to us. See all the pictures here on the fundraising gallery page

MacMillan Coffee Morning

servinghappy servers

A wonderful sunny day and lots of hungry Mums and dads with their talented offspring and you have a perfect recipe for selling drinks and home made cakes in aid of the Macmillan trust.

In addition we held another at the Shenley Brook School and by having two simaltaneous coffee mornings we made over £400 for the charity.

Great team effort. See all the pictures here
