Titanic Presidents Night 2012

New President Nigel handing Andy F his President Elect GongElizabeth & Andy Presidents Night 2012

Presidents Night 2012 had a full Titanic flavour as we celebrated the end of the Rotary year dressed as passengers of the Titanic. Karen wrote a small murder mystery play that was acted out by some of the club members for the entertainment of our family and guest. It was brilliant.

The restaurant Sapori in Woburn put on a super meal for us  all and we were compfortable situated in a room to ourselves. Elizabeth thanked everyone for their contributions towards and excellent year and gave out gifts to everyone. Guests included Sandy and David Walker, Craig Fisher and Sarah Richard and Ann Jackson-Bass and President John Neale of Newport Pagnell Rotary Club.

The club presented Elizabeth with a Spa Red Letter Day f( thank you guys) for all her work over the last two years and then it was time to hand over to Nigel Tuohy as the next President of the Rotary Club of the Brickhills. Good luck Nigel, we know you will have a great year.

Rock Choir at Wembley

Rotary Club of the Brickhills saw the Rugby and Rock choirJoanna and Andy Rotary Club of the Brickhills

The world record was achieved for attendance at a club rugby match when The Saracens played the Harlequins at Wembley stadium on Saturday 31st March 2012.

Entertainment was provided for the audience by the superb 1500 strong Rock Choir and our very own Joanna was singing in the throng. It was a wonderful sight and even better sound, very uplifting and moving too. McFly then did a couple of numbers before the rugby started.

Orienteering March 2012

Appletons and Sheldons from the Rotary Club of the Brickhills orienteeringA wonderfully sunny day in March saw most of the club with their families partaking of the first orienteering walk of the season. Whilst some of the Richardsons and Arnolds ran round in record time others like the Appletons and the Sheldons stopped off for coffee ( and some drank wine at 11:00 am !!!) half way round and consquently only just made it back before the deadline.

Great fun as always, to be repeated, but perhaps without the coffee stop!

Christmas Party 2011

Elvis is in the building..with antlersSanta and cotton wool beards Rotary Club of the BrickhillsThat time came round again!! The time for the Brickhills Christmas party. We do parties differently from most clubs, we do them 'Brickhills style' and that means lots of fun and laughter with silly games and good food and drink...and this year was no exception.

Twenty-four of us gathered at the home of Andrew and Elizabeth and after eating a meal of home made chicken curry with home made puddings to follow we played games.

Stony Stratford Treasure Hunt

Andy holding up the old Church in SSHelen and Neil Douse the organisers.Sunday 20th November Helen and Neil Douse organised a treasure hunt for us in Sony Stratford. It was enormous fun. Lots of questions and some picture clues that took us to places in Sony that we did not know existed.

The picture on the left was of an abandoned church tower that was found down a little pathway that was a joy to discover.

The end of the treasure hunt was a lunch in The George public house, what a superb end to a brilliant morning. was cold though, several of us wished we had worn warmed clothing!! ( Emma...!!) We have asked Neil and Helen to do another, perhaps round Olney next time. FAB Rotary fun and fellowship well done guys.

Fireworks in Leighton Buzzard

Rotary Club of the Brickhills enjoying the fireworksThe Douses and Montagues at Firework nightAlthough the weather forecast was for rain, we were lucky with a dry but breezy evening for the Leighton Buzzard Fireworks.

Lots of us turned up and enjoyed the spectacle, we then trouped back to Ali's where we enjoyed Morgans meatballs and pasta with lovely puddings to follow.

Great fellowship, lots of fun and it was good to see old friends Andy and Thomas Montague. See all the pictures here

Family Bowling

Rotary Club of the Brickhills and families - bowlingRotary Club of the Brickhills Andy S in actionLast Sunday 23rd October the club went bowling at the Xscape bowling alley in MK. there were 16 of us including Julie and her family, a friend of Rotary and we hope a prospective member and Max Elizabeth's son. I was lovely to see Andy F and family.

Elliot and Laura won the first game for their teams, but we all improved our bowling skills and of course our chatting and joking skills were greatly enhanced by the experience. Thanks to Andy S for organising such a fun event.

We almost had 2 games each but due to a misunderstanding both games were uncompleted. The venue compensated us with vouchers for a free game in the future.

Start the year Family BBQ 2011-2012

apple bobbingTeam TWO starting a race

We decided as a club to hold a family "start the year BBQ and games night." The day was unsettled but cleared up in time for the festivities to begin. Seventeen adults and 7 children we subjected to a variety of games and challenges devised by Mr Sheldon. Everyone fully participated and thoroughly enjoyed them all. The children got very wet and we so well behaved, it was a pleasure to spend the evening with them.

Half time entertainment was provided by Graham one of our new honorary members. He juggled with clubs knives and finally with fire. See the movie here.

Food was great, cooked by Andy S again and enjoyed by all. See all the pictures here. See all the movies here
