Community Projects
A variety of fund-raising and good deeds This is the area of the club involved with finding projects that we can support and then raising the funds or more often lending a helping hand.

Some of the tasks that we have been involved with include the painting of the science and technology room at the Redway School, Netherfield, Milton Keynes and the stripping of the perimeter fence and by providing labour to perform tasks such as painting or cleaning, as shown in the photographs above.

If you have a project in our local areas that you wish us to consider, please contact us on 07913 864 669 or email us with the details and we will contact you as soon as we can.

Grocery Grab of 2006
December the 16th the club braved the cold weather and stood outside Tescos in Bletchley for the annual Grocery Grab. This is where we ask shoppers to donate a non perishable item they have just bought to a worthy cause. This year we were collecting for the Milton Keynes Women's Refuge.

We are delighted to say that the generosity of the shoppers filled 3 trolleys with goods and we also collected £140 in contributions with which the club bought other items which were also given to the refuge.

Casino Nights
The usual way we raise funds during the year is by running casino nights for private and company parties. We own 2 roulette wheels and baizes, all the chips necessary, plus a craps table, packs of cards to run "poker", "blackjack" and "Newmarket" games, plus plenty of experience and enthusiasm to put on these events.

We charge the person or company to run these nights which we "man" on the night. May I say that they are a lot of fun to be at as well!

Other Rotary clubs hire the casino equipment from us for a charity event; we only charge them a minimal fee.

MacMillan Coffee Morning
On the 30th September, we held a coffee morning to raise funds for the MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. It was held in the church hall of Bow Brickhill and was attended by the residents and friends of the Brickhill villages.

Altogether we raised £165 and made some new friends. At this event we were asked if we would consider clearing the garden at the rear of the hall as it is rather over grown. We gladly accepted and will do the work in the spring of 2007.

Our thanks go to the Brickhill villagers for their support and we hope we can count on them to support us again next year.

A typical community project
Some of the community project we are involved with at Christmas time.
We run the "Visit with Father Christmas" at Frosts in Woburn Sands. We stood outside Tescos in Wolverton, Christmas 2004 and invited the public to donate non perishable goods which we then distributed to worthy causes.
